We are looking for a Laboratory Support Operator. The successful applicant must be highly motivated and able to work as part of a team. They will machine and test samples to specified standards, to prepare moulds and support departmental cutting, testing and trial requirements.
Main Responsibilities
- Performing general sample management tasks.
- Preparation of test samples using cutting equipment (band saws, router, lathe, sanders, lab CNC machine etc).
- Preparation of moulds (cleaning, assembly etc).
- Assisting in trials undertaken by the department (gathering of chemicals/materials, weighing and mixing materials) .
- Undertaking testing in accordance with procedures and international standards.
- Work in a clean, tidy and safe manner.
- Departmental upkeep (cleaning, replenishing, painting, minor repairs etc).
- May be required to work shifts in accordance with operational requirements.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications:
- Candidates with a good standard of general education; 'O' grades/Standards Grade/National Qualifications

- Arithmetic, Physics and/or Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
- Practical woodworking or technical studies.
Experience Required:
- Working with general hand tools
- Working with cutting machinery
- Awareness of working with chemicals safely
Desirable:
- Previous experience working in a Laboratory and test environment
- Cutting/Machining experience
Skills/Training Required:
- Proficient in MS Office, including recording basic test results.
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Ability to multi-task
