Balmoral, a division of Balmoral Group, provides surface and subsurface buoyancy, insulation and elastomer products and services to the global energy, defence, subsea communications and oceanographic industries.

We are looking for a Production Engineer to work as part of the Production Engineering Team to develop and improve our manufacturing processes through a combination of incremental change and more disruptive transformation. To liaise with Area Managers to identify areas requiring optimisation and drive continuous improvement changes to Production and the wider business.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOBHOLDER

  • Proactively lead projects to ensure that they are completed on time and in budget. Must be able to work with a cross functional team to deliver improvements and make measurable productivity gains.

  • Have exceptional ability to project manage plant installation projects through design, procurement, installation, commissioning and training.

  • Monitor existing processes using established methodologies and make recommendations about suitable lean improvements through a recognized structure e.g. DMAIC

  • Employ relevant Lean tools to provide qualitative and quantitative evaluations of manufacturing processes.

  • Deliver process change including behaviour change and stabilisation following change.

  • Create, update and manage the system of shop floor procedures used within the business.

  • Troubleshoot plant and process alongside the Maintenance team. Lead root cause analysis and CAPA investigations.

  • Ensure compliance with all QHSE requirements when creating new processes or enhancing existing ones.

  • Focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Value in all projects.

    Required:           

  • None

 

Desirable:           

  • Engineering HND

Experience

Required

  • Min 2 years in manufacturing or production process development/ optimisation.

 

Desirable:           

  • Lean / Six Sigma qualifications

 

Skills

Required:           

  • MS Office competent

 

Desirable:           

  • CAD competent
