Balmoral Comtec, a division of, Freudenberg Flow Technologies, provides surface and subsurface buoyancy, insulation and elastomer products and services to the global energy, defence, subsea communications and oceanographic industries.
We are recruiting for a Quality Advisor position within the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment Department in Aberdeen.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY AND FUNCTION
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the business with all quality management and assurance activities whilst working closely with production, engineering and project management teams as well as clients, suppliers and/or third parties. The job holder must be able to actively and effectively communicate at all levels across the business and demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to resolving problems. Additionally, they must contribute to the continuous improvement of our quality management systems and processes, reporting any issues to line management as appropriate.
The base location is Balmoral Park, Aberdeen. There may be a requirement from time to time to work at other locations, including Customer sites.
MAIN DUTIES
- Promote the company’s guiding principles.

- Establish and maintain open lines of communication to ensure objectives are met and develop good working relationships.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the evaluation and review of client quality requirements during pre-qualification/ tender activities ensuring they are responded to in a timely manner, highlighting any exceptions and/or clarifications as appropriate.
- Support the periodic review of project quality plans and/or inspection & test plan templates and provide feedback to the projects department.
- Identify, develop, and execute programmes aimed at promoting sustained quality performance within the business.
- Provide information, instruction and training in the quality management systems and applications including internal, supplier and/or third-party audits, RCA and CAPA to internal and external stakeholders as applicable.
- Support the continued development and improvement of the quality management system and supporting applications, ensuring compliance with applicable management system requirements e.g., ISO 9001, API Q1.
- Ensure changes to quality management systems and supporting applications are communicated to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the risk-based evaluation and review of external product and service providers suppliers, liaising with suppliers and internal teams to ensure action(s) to mitigate risk/ realise opportunities are identified, agreed, implemented in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the evaluation and review of process risk and identify appropriate controls to reduce the likelihood of potential process failure occurring that may adversely affect the business e.g., Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Ensure customer complaints and NCRs and are investigated in a timely manner, ensuring root cause and corrective action(s) are identified, agreed, implemented in a timely manner and are effective to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure that product identification and traceability is maintained to support client/project requirements.
- Develop and conduct internal and supplier audits based on business risks and opportunities, to verify compliance with quality management system and/or client (project) requirements.
- Report and share audit outcomes, ensuring audit findings are agreed, documented communicated and followed up in a timely manner.
- Support third-party audits including client and/or certification audits where required.
- Monitor, measure, analyse and review the performance of quality management system, including externally provided processes, products and services, and identify recommendations for improvement.
- Communicate and report the performance of quality management system to appropriate stakeholders.
- Participate in project lessons learned reviews ensuring lessons are identified, shared, communicated, and learned.

Qualifications:

- Lead Auditor/Assessor qualification (to a relevant quality management system standard).

- Professional quality management qualification e.g., CQI Diploma, MSc in Quality Management.
- Professional membership e.g., CQI, or equivalent.
- Suitable sciences, engineering, or business qualification e.g., degree or HNC.

Experience:
|
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 management system requirements, and associated terminology.
- Experience in developing and maintaining quality management systems.
- Leading and conducting root cause investigations and application of root cause analysis methods.
- Internal auditor, involved in preparing and implementing risk-based audit programmes.
- Experience of external audit activities, e.g., client audits, third party certification audits.
- Understanding of national calibration requirements e.g., UKAS certification requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant industry technical codes and standards, e.g., BS EN 10204.

- Relevant previous experience coaching, mentoring and developing people.
- Relevant previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Relevant previous experience developing and implementing qualitative and quantitative risk assessment techniques e.g., Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA).
- Understanding associated international management systems models, standards e.g. ISO 10006, ISO 14001, ISO 29001, API Q1, API Q2 and EFQM/Business Excellence Model.
- Knowledge of mechanical/ metallurgical testing principles, e.g., radiography, NDT/NDE.
- Practical application of applicable UK HSE legislative/regulatory requirements.
