Balmoral Tanks Ltd is a leading European engineering design and manufacturing company. As a result of significant investment in people and plant, the company produces what is believed to be the most comprehensive range of tank products available for a single source in the EU.

The successful candidate would provide professional QS and contracts management services to the appropriate Business Unit functions. The business operates across the water, wastewater and fire sprinkler sectors. The customer base includes many of the top 100 UK construction companies and M&E companies. In addition, we are involved in a significant number of overseas projects. Where possible, the business will aim to contract under NEC 3 terms.

The role will require a high level of professionalism and confidence in negotiations, managing contractual risk as well as advising and efficiently implementing the procurement strategy of the business and the projects.

The successful candidate would be joining Balmoral Tanks at an exciting time, due to a £20m investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities we have introduced a new range of glass fused to steel (GFS) liquid storage tanks.

Main Duties

  • Operate a safe working environment in line with company policies & procedures.

  • Provide specialist QS and contracts skills to Balmoral Tanks contracts and sales teams in areas such as pre-tender meetings, project risk assessment and contractual terms.

  • Prepare tender and contract documents & undertake cost analysis for project work.

  • Produce relevant procurement strategies and associated buying schedule in conjunction with the purchasing team and PM. Procure Subcontract packages, approve subcontract orders ensuring compliance with specification, drawings and employers requirements.

  • Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks. Perform risk, value management and cost control disciplines on all projects.

  • Provide advice on contractual claims

  • Identify and escalate any commercial issues including potential EOT, acceleration and disruption issues. Produce project cashflow forecasts and exit gross margins each month.

  • Advise on Terms and Conditions and Collateral warranties. Liaise with Credit Control in respect of debt and overdue accounts.

  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use.

  • Must have good communication and organisation skills. Remain calm and focused, produce accurate reports and documents and show the ability to negotiate.

  • Responsible for the management of the contracts team and construction employees.
