As we continue to grow, we're looking for a skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at our Thurnscoe facility. 

About the role:

The Structural Design Engineer is a key member of the engineering team, providing a service to Balmoral Tanks, in the following areas: 

• producing designs for new and modified Balmoral products 

• validating these designs through trials, testing and field evaluations 

• assisting with the production trials of new products 

• resolving technical problems that occur in production 

• product development and continuous improvement 

• providing technical support for the sales and site services departments 

The jobholder will: 

• familiarise him/herself with the company’s products, processes and materials, and keep abreast of relevant developments in legislation and competitive products 

• carry out structural analysis work, including finite element analysis 

• assist in all other engineering functions as required 

• Ensure that designs meet relevant codes and ensure that designs are manufacturable and cost effective 

• Work closely with design team to keep projects on track and to timescales, providing timely responses to customer queries 

• Can provide effective summaries of complex issues that can be understood by non specialist teams within the business 

• Liaise with customers to provide best all-round solutions for customer and Balmoral  

Experience: 

Required:  

• 2-3 years’ general engineering experience  

• 1-2 years’ structural analysis experience  

Desirable:  

• 6 months shall have been spent on finite element analysis 

• Experience of steel and composite materials 

• Experience of non-linear analysis 

Skills & Abilities  

• Strong organisational and decision-making skills is essential.   

• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.  

• Excellent inter-personal skills. 

• First class planning & organisational skills. 

• Good presentation, written and oral communication skills. 

• Must be an innovative thinker and commercially aware 

• Must be willing to develop interpersonal and communication skills 

• Must be computer literate particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word and Engineering software packages for which further training will be provided. 

Desirable:  

• AutoCAD Inventor are the preferred modelling software 

• FEA capabilities and experience  

• MathCAD and Excel are the preferred calculation software
